Planted not Buried

Troth of Sorrows is a business term used to describe when the market is not ready for the product. It took Amazon nearly 20 years before it turned back-to-back profitable quarters. Going through it, perhaps it would have been wise to call it quits as they needed cable wires, internet availability, online purchasing behavior, and mobile phones to develop and catch up to them. Fortunately Jeff Bezos stayed focus on the bigger picture.

Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” — Mark 4:30-32

Despite being the smallest seed on earth– a mustard seed is only 1/64th of an inch– it can grow into a tree 20 feet tall and 20 feet wide. Yet when holding this seed in my hand it doesn’t seem possible because I am focused on the wrong things — the outer coating of the seed. Fortunately, we serve a God who only sees a tree.

  • Can you see leadership in your rebellious teen?
  • Can you see yourself giving away 90% of your income in your current jobless state?
  • Can you see the blessing in your stomach cancer?
  • Can see potential in the junior executive who will one day be running your company?

The next big idea often takes longer than expected to come to fruition because we measure it on our schedule and in our ways. I’m finding that His seeds though are always on schedule.

It’s not how we start but how we finish. Can you put the seed of your dream, career or business into God’s soil trusting His timing?  Believe that you are planted and not buried.

What dream or idea is requiring more patience trusting the process?
